Fenwrite Pro · Connector (MCP)
Ask Claude or ChatGPT about anything you recorded
Fen writes down every meeting, lecture and call. Connect Fenwrite to your AI assistant and it can look through all of them for you: what was decided, what's on the exam, who promised what, and the minute they said it.

What did Dr. Rao say would be on the midterm?
Searched your Fenwrite notes · 1 match
In Biology 201, lecture 9 (Tuesday), at 38:12:
Dr. Rao “The midterm covers chapters three to five, and there's one question on the lab write-up.”
So: chapters 3 to 5, plus the lab write-up.
Ask it what you'd ask someone who was there
- What did I promise in Tuesday's team meeting?
- List every to-do with my name on it from this week.
- When did Maya first mention the van, and what did she say?
- Write a follow-up email from yesterday's call, with the decisions and who owns what.
- Make flashcards from last Thursday's lecture.
- What did the doctor say about the new dose?
The connector link
Everyone uses the same link. Signing in with your Fenwrite account is what connects it to your recordings.
https://mcp.fenwrite.com/mcpYou need Fenwrite Pro, and to be signed in to the app (Settings → Back up your notes), because the assistant reads your text backup. The link is in the app too, under Settings → AI assistants.

Using another assistant? Any app that supports remote MCP servers with sign-in (OAuth) works the same way: add the link, then sign in to Fenwrite.
What the assistant can read
Titles, dates, length, speakers and Fen's one-line gist, newest first. It can narrow by date, topic or starred.
It searches every transcript and gets back the exact lines, with the time and who said them.
All of it, or just a stretch, with times and speaker names as the app shows them.
The gist, key points, decisions, and to-dos with owners and due dates.
Safe by design
It can't edit, delete, add or record anything. There are no tools for it.
It reads your text backup. Audio is never backed up, so there is none to read.
Nothing is shared until you add the link, sign in and press Allow. Disconnect any time in Settings → AI assistants.
What the assistant reads goes to its maker (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT) under your account with them, and their privacy terms apply. Our connector reads your backup only to answer the assistant, and doesn't keep or log what it reads. The details are in our privacy policy.
Questions
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT use outside tools and data. Fenwrite's connector is a remote MCP server: you add its link to your assistant once, sign in, and from then on the assistant can look things up in your Fenwrite notes when you ask.
Do I need Fenwrite Pro?
Yes. The connector is part of Fenwrite Pro ($9.99 a month or $79.99 a year). You also need to be signed in to the app, because the assistant reads your text backup. Without Pro, the connect page says Fenwrite Pro is needed and nothing is shared.
Does the assistant hear my recordings?
No. It reads text only: titles, transcripts, summaries, to-dos and speaker names. Audio is never in the backup, so there's no audio for it to read.
Can it change or delete my notes?
No. The connector is read-only. It has no tools to edit, delete, add or record anything.
Will Claude or ChatGPT train on my transcripts?
What the assistant reads is handled by its maker (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT) under your account and settings with them. Both let you control whether your chats are used to improve their models; check those settings in the assistant. Fenwrite never sends anything to them by itself: the assistant reads only when you ask it something.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Add the connector once in Claude on the web or the desktop app, and it's there in Claude's phone app too. In ChatGPT, add it on the web.
How do I disconnect?
In the Fenwrite app, open Settings → AI assistants and press Disconnect next to the assistant, or remove Fenwrite in the assistant's own settings. A connection that isn't used for 60 days ends by itself, and deleting your Fenwrite account disconnects every assistant.
Is Fenwrite in Claude's or ChatGPT's app directory?
Not yet. Until it is, you add it with the link on this page, which takes about a minute.
